Modular Second Story Addition Completed In Under Two Weeks

PEMBROKE, NH. May 15, 2009 –When the Counseling Center of Nashua needed seven new offices for their growing practice, the only place to expand from the tight city location was up. Adding a second floor to the building was not the real challenge though. The expansion needed to be done very quickly, meet Nashua’s downtown historical criteria, and needed to be done without disrupting business. The window of opportunity was weekends, plus one week when doctors take their vacation time in August. Can a roof be torn off and over 1000 square feet of office space in a busy downtown environment be built keeping business operations open in that incredible time frame?

Larry Cotter president of the Lacewood Group, Inc. of Moultonborough NH and Epoch Homes of Pembroke, NH partnered to make it all happen. Using a combination of modules and panels fabricated at the Epoch factory and experienced Lacewood employees and subcontractors, Larry had seven new offices at the counseling center finished in time for the doctor’s return from a one week vacation without a hitch or loss of important counseling operations.

“Not only did we complete the offices on time”, said Cotter, “but the added benefit was the lack of disruption to surrounding businesses and traffic at the 1 Main St. address. Using Epoch’s quality built modules and panels for light commercial work like this saves my clients time and money, and reduces my dependence on subcontractors.”

Larry had the two weekends prior to the modules being delivered to prep the site, which included tearing off the roof of the existing structure. “We had to accomplish (the roof demolition) on weekends because the counseling center needed to remain open for business during the week, without the noise and disruption of construction crews”, Cotter states. “Epoch set the modules the following Saturday, and then I brought my crews in to do the tie-ins and button ups so they could be ready for business when the doctors returned from vacation.”
