FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Melbourne, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 24, 2011 -- Modus Operandi, a leading software and information integration technology company, has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force to develop a web-based system to closely monitor satellites in orbit, and alert the Air Force Space Command to any possible unusual situations with those satellites. The Modus Operandi architecture will act as an 'early warning' system for intelligence analysts, providing a clear picture of what is happening and how it might impact the satellite and other space systems.

The Phase I contract is sponsored by the Air Force through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Called BackSweep, the innovative program will leverage semantic technologies, text analytics, wiki, chat interfaces and net-centric data access to create a collaborative web-based environment for predictive battlespace awareness.

BackSweep uses semantic technologies that study the meaning and intent of words and phrases, as well as probabilistic models to formally represent the environmental, mission and system contexts of space assets. BackSweep’s advanced contextual reasoning capability will significantly reduce intelligence analysts' workload, enhance their situational awareness, and improve their threat assessment effectiveness.
