These details are pertaining to one exceptional occasion of a book publication. Publication functions are not unusual for the world of Marathi Literature, but this was an occasion of its own kind – being the very first publication function in Antarctica at Southern Pole of the earth. Collection of articles written by Veena Patil of Kesari – the lady who has made her mark internationally in the field of tourism – was published in Antarctica and the impression of mother Marathi was thus embossed on Antarctica.

Kesari is the name most popular among tourists for its quality of continuously striving to explore the new horizons in tourism industry. Last 28 years, Kesari has fulfilled the dreams of meandering of millions of tourists through their perfect management and affable services. In January 2012, Kesari laid one more milestone in the path of progress of Marathi community by taking a troop of tourists to Antarctica, and one historical moment during this Antarctica tour was the publication of the book “Pravas Jagacha, Jagnyacha – Part 3” authored by Veena Patil of Kesari. This exceptional function was held on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 in the ‘Deception Island’ area of Antarctica, ‘Deception Island’ being an alive volcano. Like other areas of Antarctica, even this region is covered by ice, but seawater in this area is warm due to the heat of volcano. Hence steam is visible in water even in ‘negative’ temperature. Publication of the book “Pravas Jagacha, Jagnyacha – Part 3” published by Ameya Publication of Pune was held in such a wonderful atmosphere and it became the first ever book in the world published in the icy land of Antarctica, which has tucked the feather of pride in the crown of Marathi book publication.

The book was published by the hands of David ‘Woody’ Wood – leader of quark expedition, at Whalers bay Beach of Deception Island. Sudhir Patil along with Veena Patil, Kesaribhau Patil, Sunita Patil, Annie Inglis of quark expedition, Flipper Suta, Cavin Sampson and tourists of Kesari witnessed this historical occasion. Previously first part of the book Pravas Jagacha, Jagnyacha was published in the airplane at a height of thirty thousand feet, and this time the new record has been set of publication at the bottom of the world.
