Mort is back... badder than ever.

Recently, Melting Point Entertainment released "Naked Shadows: The Director's Cut". The comedy relief in the film was provided by noted Southern California Character actor Michael Q. Schmidt. What proved to be a boon to any who seek light entertainment was that Michael had provided Melting Point with many minutes of comedy that did not make it into the feature film. These were added to the "Naked Shadows" DVD extras, and also released as "Misadventures of Mort the Landlord", a separate DVD where Michael brings us the archetype landlord we have all met at one time or another. We can chuckle knowingly as we watch Michael's "Mort" as being the stereotypical snoopy, obnoxious, mooching, lazy landlord.

What we can share here is that the understated and unique comedy Michael gave us in the feature film is strengthened by the comedy seen in the separate films. All of the footage was shot at the same time, but when a production company does not want to waste a few golden moments of comedy, they share them with their viewers. The result is that Michael Q. Schmidt can now be seen starring in his own short spin-off of the original feature.

In the Naked Shadows feature, we follow a cute set of roommates who get themselves into lots of trouble. Traveling beside them on their adventure is Mort... their landlord. We never see him come and go. We never see him clean or fix. He just seems to appear from out of the ether like a ghost... but as a spirit that bring comedic loathing, rather than fright. He appears. He disappears. At the most unlikely moments he arrives to share a bit of Mort-style mayhem before he departs.

By reaching in to their magic bag, Melting Point Entertainment reached to their bag of magic and has given us the best of Mort... a Mort we have grown to love... and that special Mort-esque comedy we learned to appreciate in Naked Shadows. We trust that viewers will appreciate "Misadventures of Mort the Landlord" as much as did we.
