Moscow Jeweller Chosen for Elite Collection

February 27, 2012

Retailer chosen to feature rare 'plique-a-jour' collection of artworks.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 27, 2012 -- A Moscow jewellery retailer has been selected to launch one of the world’s most sought after collections of hand-crafted art objects.

The Consul jewellery store in Moscow has partnered with Bulushoff to release their latest collection of incredibly rare ‘plique-a-jour’ artworks.

‘Plique-a-jour’ (French for ‘letting in daylight’) is an ancient method of applying enamel to an intricate lattice of gold or silver to create a translucent effect; similar to a miniature stained glass window.

The craftsmanship required for this technique is so challenging that only six recognised masters exist in the world – four of whom work for Bulushoff. With such small numbers of these items able to be created, their value has increased by an average of 13 percent each year.

The demand for ‘plique-a-jour’ artworks, combined with the low production numbers, has led to the secondary market prices being higher than retail. This price growth, together with their radiant beauty, has made Bulushoff jewellery one of the most attractive investments in the art world.

A spokesman for Consul said: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen by Bulushoff to present this collection. The beauty of these items has to be seen to be believed, and their extreme rarity makes them an outstanding investment opportunity.”

The use of ‘plique-a-jour’ can be traced back to the 13th century but the difficulties involved in mastering the method meant it became something of a lost art, until a Russian revival in the 19th century.

Bulushoff is one of the most prestigious luxury trademarks in Russia, creating fine art objects for home and business.
The latest collection of ‘plique-a-jour’ jewellery is available to view at the Consul jewellery store: Moscow, Tretyakovsky pr, 7
