Motivational Speaker Shows Companies How to Bounce Back
What do companies need now more than ever? Resilience. And motivational speaker Scott Love helps companies built it in their organizations.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 14, 2010 --
Resilience expert and motivational speaker Scott Love says that companies must manage resilience if they want to capitalize on the impending economic recovery. "Resilience is something that can be learned, and most managers have never studied it as a core competency" Just like leadership, Love says that resilience is one of the core competencies that successful managers can learn and must master.
Love believes that business is just a game and takes a 'game theory' approach to showing managers how to become successful leaders. "If I can make it fun, then I've got their attention. And if I've got their attention then I use fun systems and interesting models to show them that it's all just a game. Running an organization is very similar to playing on a team sport or poker or chess. That's when it gets fun and exciting and real learning takes place. When we do that, then the message sticks and they can use the tools to build organizations that bounce back quicker"
Love has seen several of his clients bounce back even while the nation is still in the throes of economic uncertainty. "One of the first things I will teach a new client is how to think. I'll show them a model of question-asking that can help them turn their weaknesses, deficits, and adversities into catalysts of innovation and forward motion. And that results in more sales, improved morale, and highly functioning teams"
Love's speaking programs are usually at annual meetings and conventions for companies and trade associations, but he says he likes the one on one consulting aspect of his business the best. "I love it when I work with an entrepreneur and build a plan around economic weakness and use that to our advantage. It's exciting for me to look at problem resolution as a system and try to use all variables as contributing factors"
When asked what the one secret is that he would share to help a struggling manager, Love responds, "Just ask yourself better questions. Instead of asking, ''Why do bad things always happen to me?', instead ask yourself, 'How can I use this adversity to my advantage?'"
