Today the Pro Chancellor, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal held a meeting with the fellow students and friends of Johny who went along with Johny to his hometown in Mizoam. The Pro- Chancellor, Mrs Rashmi Mittal said that it is unfortunate that a misunderstanding during a football match led to unfortunate death of a bright student. She further added that despite of the prompt medical intervention by the University under the supervision of the Chancellor, Pro Chancellor and other senior officials, the student could not be saved. She once again told the Mizo students that justice would be provided to the soul of Johny and all the people involved in the incident would be dealt as per the law of the land.
Grief struck Mizo students mentioned that it is a great loss to us, as one of our brothers is no longer with us. Our friend, Johny, was a wonderful and a happy-go-luckyperson. Johny’s life was lost due to an unfortunate accident and in spite of making the best possible efforts , Johny could not be saved. We are satisfied that even the Hon’ble Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of the University were with Johny at the hospital until his last breath.
His absence will be felt by all of us all the time, but we are satisfied that the culprits of this incident are put behind the bars and the management is putting all its effort to bring justice to Johny.
Mr.Lalthlamuana and Lalawmpuia Pachuau, students who went along with the body of Johny told that the parents were shattered to receive the body of their son, but were thankful to the management for bringing their son’s body with full dignity escorted by the University officials in such a short span of time. They further mentioned that the parents of Johny have expressed their satisfaction for all the help and support offered to them by the University authorities. They added that Johny’s father thanked the University for providing justice to his son’s soul and handed over the “ Mitti Paun- Shawl of Respect”, a traditional Mizo cloth to the Pro-Chancellor sent by Johny’s family as a matter of respect for the timely help provided. They also mentioned that along with Johny’s parents, they all also trust the management completely and are sure that whatever decision/action the management will take shall be transparent and justifiable.
Talking on behalf of complete Mizoram community present at LPU, the students mentioned that they want to convey to all student and political organizations to refrain from involving into this sensitive matter. All the students in a common voice said, “Such organizations that are uselessly trying to exploit such a sensitive issue are further hurting our emotions. We request all such organizations to keep out of the matter and not disturb the peaceful environment of the University because we as a family with the LPU can handle our personal matters. We have lost our brother and in this moment nobody is more grieved than Johny’s family and his friends. We also want to request all such parties not to politicize this matter for their personal interest.”
