The MTS file format has been around for about 3 years now, it was originally developed by Sony and Panasonic who jointly worked on the format and released it back in 2006. The MTS file format is more commonly know as “AVCHD” which stands for “advanced video codec high definition”, its basically a high definition video file mostly seen in camcorders.
Sony and Panasonic were the first to bring out the technology for consumer use and it has taken off as expected. More and more people are demanding better quality videos and better quality products for there money and as I have a HD camcorder myself I can honestly say the quality of the recording is much better compared to a standard camcorder.
