New York, New York, May 3, 2010 – Jeff Brody, President of Brody Distribution Group and The NephCure Foundation have teamed up to hold a golf tournament unlike anything experienced outside of the pro-golf circuit to raise funds for research of Nephrotic Syndrome, a devastating kidney disease.
Get out your cleats for the Monday, May 10 stellar event at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan, NJ. The tournament promises to raise significant funds for Nephrotic Syndrome research. Compete in several special contests including a helicopter 50/50 drop, putting contest and closest to the pin. Prizes include a BMW, $10,000 for the best putt and a yearlong membership to the Battleground Country Club. Music industry golf addicts, this is a perfect way to pay it forward and simultaneously win your right to brag.
Jeff Brody, who over his 42 years in the music industry has worked with such luminaries as Gloria Gaynor, Kiss, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Vanessa Williams, Hanson, Andrea Bocelli, 98 Degrees, Rusted Root, Joan Osborne and Brian McKnight among others, was SR VP of Sales at Polygram and Mercury Records for over 21 years, and is now President of Brody Distribution Group (BDG). BDG provides physical distribution of entrepreneurial labels throughout North America and digital distribution on a global basis through RED Distribution, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. Jeff is also President of JRB Sales & Marketing Innovations, an independent sales and retail marketing company.
Brody’s 4 year old grandson Cole, who developed Nephrotic Syndrome at the age of 2, is the inspiration behind organizing this event. Nephrotic Syndrome is one of two potentially devastating kidney diseases along with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). NephCure estimates that there are close to 20,000 people living with end stage renal disease due to FSGS and 5 in every 100,000 children are diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome each year. There is no known cause or cure with dialysis and transplantation the only option if the kidneys are damaged too much and extensive amounts of medications have no effect.
“I look at Cole and all I want to do is fix it,” says Jeff. “With organizing this golf tournament along with the NephCure Foundation, I hope the big hearts in the music industry come out that day to play, maybe sponsor a hole in the event, have fun, win some big prizes and at the same time help fund the research that could help all victims of this devastating disease, including Cole.”
