FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 14, 2011 --
The next MUTEC - International Trade Fair for Museum and Exhibition Technology will take place in Leipzig at the same time as denkmal 2012 - European Trade Fair for Conservation, Restoration and Old Building Renovation from 22nd – 24th November 2012 .
Beyond their key task as places of cultural interest, museums also function as flagships for towns and communities and contribute to the economical and tourist appeal of whole regions. For modern visitors, the building, the consumer friendly infrastructure and the attractive presentation play a major role next to the portfolio of the museum.
Accordingly, the core topics of MUTEC encompass the whole museum sector, building of museums, infrastructure and furnishing of depots, archives and research. Modern ways of presentation will be focused on: modern glass cases which guarantee not only the perfect display, but also the preservation of cultural goods; innovative lighting systems with the latest developments of energy-efficient LED technology, which does not only illuminate the exhibits effectively but also gently; multimedia and interactive systems, which provide for extra information and knowledge for visitors.
Already a popular topic of last MUTEC’s seminar programme, one key theme will again be the chances and challenges of a digitalised world and the use of mobile information systems: For almost 75% of the German population, internet is a normal part of every-day life and the use of smart phones also increases annually.
The deployment of new media in the cultural sector can intensify the perception when visiting a museum, enhance the dialogue with the audience and strengthen the authenticity of the museum by transparency, as well as tapping existing potential.
Library technology will be included as a special segment in the next MUTEC. A special infrastructure is required for organising knowledge and making it available, but a number of products, developments and services for this area have already been covered by the field of exhibitors or can be expanded and completed by new exhibitors.
Libraries are the cultural and educational institutions in Germany which are used the most; they are a storage place of knowledge and the cultural memory, but also places of encounter and of common reading and research.
Since ancient times, libraries have had an eminent position in architecture . Especially during the last two decades, some spectacular new buildings were constructed and they disprove the assumption that the digital age could lead to the closure of traditional libraries and to virtual data storage instead.
An extensive seminar programme with lectures, panels and workshops will accompany the exhibition and strengthen MUTEC’s position as place for direct contact, exchange and dialogue.
After its successful debut in 2010, MUTEC will again take place at the same time and place as denkmal in Leipzig.
Both exhibitors and visitors appreciated and supported the combination of MUTEC and denkmal at the last show in 2010. In cooperation with denkmal, a culturally and interdisciplinary wide offer has been created, which encompasses the whole area of museums, monuments, archives, libraries, knowledge centres and cultural institutions.
The advantages of the trade fair location Leipzig have been much appreciated – especially the international approach and the vicinity to the neighbours in the East with a high potential for the deployment of modern museum and exhibition technologies.
Again this year, these contacts will play an important role – denkmal’s partner country will be Russia and denkmal as well as MUTEC will again be under the patronage of UNESCO .
