Muubaa capitalise on this uniqueness by putting the leather through different processes and treatments to enhance its texture and finish. Each design is also fitted individually in house, from sketch to prototype through to final production to ensure the perfect fit for that style.
Leather is the most important fabric of the season and Muubaa's SS13 collection celebrates all the possibilities of this most versatile of materials. Tough yet feminine; luxurious yet hard-wearing; comfortable yet alluring, this dichotomy is reflected in each of Muubaa's distinctive leather pieces.
Through clever design, Muubaa proves that leather is perfectly suited to summer and the new collection comprises gilets and jackets in styles from biker to blazer, in leather, sheepskin and suede, as well as skirts, dresses, trousers and shorts. New too are the leather and suede blouses, vests and T-shirts. The materials are treated with a variety of finishes to achieve distinctive effects, with dip-dyes, metallics, laser-cutting and quilting all featuring in the new collection. In keeping with the superior quality of all Muubaa pieces, the minutest attention is paid to the finish and detail of each garment. The collection incorporates innovative design touches like the use of dip-dye, ombre and metallic leathers and foiled suede; quilting is given a flirty feel through the use of flowing curves. For the first time, the new collection features detailing in sustainably sourced salmon leather.
For SS13 colour is paramount. Jackets come in a range of chalky near-nudes “ shell, sandstone, mink, sycamore “ the grown-up answer to girly pastels. Grey features in shades from pewter to the palest cloudy blue. Rich plum and bronze echo A/W, but alongside them are fresh, vivid shades of aqua and coral for summer.
Muubaa celebrates leather's tough, hard-wearing and edgy qualities, but at the same time making it intrinsically feminine with delicate details like ruffles, draping, laser-cutting, chiffon sleeves and mesh insets. Designed to flatter the female figure, the subtly flared peplum top and a dropped-waist 1920s-style dress play with the potential of leather to work in unexpected ways; daring pieces like fitted leather skirts, short shorts and skinny trousers also allow the wearer to flaunt her curves.
