FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 9, 2010 -- They say that “war, stress, taxes along with death and divorce are the most stressful events in a persons life, but let me tell you that MOVING is right up there with the already obvious stresses that people experience.
Fortunately, not everyone will experience the above noted but, it almost goes without saying that most will endure a move whether it be long distance or just locally.

My mother decided that it was time to move and guess what, the move she was contemplating wasn’t in the same city, it was across country. Well, being the good daughter that I am ( oh yeah, did I forget to mention single with no children) and have the flexibility of moving, I agreed to move with her.
No matter how much time one person allows for the packing, sorting, purging and arranging to have all the utilities disconnected and find the best mover, there really isn’t enough hours in the day.
Now, I figure that this is going to be a breeze so I get out my pad of paper and try to organize my thoughts.
Right, I’m ready to start:

Step 1 – Trying to pick a date for the big move. ( OK, so that didn’t go so well, it took my mother and I three months to agree that a fall date would work for us. Started planning in May and finally choose September for the delivery of the furniture.

Step 2 – Purging and Disposal( When your mother is 80 years old and cherishes all the gifts and articles that she has gathered over the years, it’s not the easiest task.) We got thru that part of the process. Convinced Mom that even though she had 25 comforters and had them all nicely stored that some unfortunate person in the city didn’t even have one to sleep with at night. This eased her soul knowing that someone would benefit from her donation.)

Step 3 – Once we, got through that little task it was time to pack, thought about hiring a packing crew and believe me we should have. It took us two days of steady packing just to do the kitchen and china cabinet. Had we used professional packers it, might have taken them just hours to complete what it took us to do in two days. We all learn from past experiences, don’t we.

Step 4 – Previously arranged for TSM Movers to come and load our household belongings along with 3 vehicles to be shipped to the east coast from the west coast, ) that’s right all the way across Canada) Now all we had to do was sit and wait. Hours felt like days, days felt like weeks. The day arrives, the driver called us to advise what time they were to arrive and we waited, coffee ready, Mom made sandwiches just in case they were hungry and she raised 5 sons so she ought to know the routine of these young guys. She was right, they thanked her for her thoughtfulness.

The hardest part of the day for Mom and I hate to admit for the crew was trying to convince my Mom she wasn’t the supervisor and that they knew how to do their job. She wasn’t sure if she could just sit and relax, but she did her best. Told Mom that when the furniture arrived at the new house she would be very busy instructing the crew as to where her belongings would be placed in the new home.

Step 5 – We get on a plane, needless to say a bit too soon, because we were not expecting the truck for a few more days. ( Hooray, hooray just like camping out.) Difficult to sway my Mother when she decides we don’t need to go to a hotel for a good nights rest. Well, thank goodness the camping trip in the living room only lasted two nights. The driver with our furniture calls and wonders if he can delivery early. ( I was never so happy to hear from someone).

Step 6 – We met the crew with open arms and of course more sandwiches. They worked all day non stop and we felt they deserved more than a thank you. Passed each crew member an envelope showing our appreciation. But somehow that still didn’t seem like enough.

In conclusion:
If the professional services of TSM Moving which by the way is the Consumers Choice Award winners for the last ten years running had not been there for us during this whole stressful period I’m not sure we would have made it this far. It is never easy planning or executing this type of adventure on your own, the challenge is overwhelming.
All my family can say is A MILLION THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED.
