FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 5, 2011 --
San Francisco, CA:
NASABA, the North American South Asian Bar Association, is pleased to announce its new Officers and Committee chairs as effective July 1, 2011.
Under the direction of its newly elected President, Ms. Jolsna John, NASABA has an exciting year ahead as its membership grows and becomes better coordinated and as NASABA continues to work with the South Asian community, sister organizations, government, business and the American legal community in general to address legal, business and civil rights issues.
Ms. John, a well-known labor lawyer based out of San Francisco, leads a national team of attorneys that will serve NASABA from diverse locations, professional backgrounds and viewpoints.
“We look forward to a year of growth and partnerships” says attorney John. “We are fortunate to have members of our group spread across the country in a variety of professional organizations and positions. NASABA will continue to be a resource for these attorneys and the industry in general while keeping a focused eye on the South Asian legal and business communities which despite great success and prominence in many areas is also a relatively new community with unique issues and concerns. We are an emerging growth market, even within the U.S.”
Part of the growth Ms, John mentions will be fostered in part by an increased focus on communication and interaction with and between NASABA members through the use of social media tools like Linked-in, Twitter and Face book. “We will be relying heavily on these tools to share information with a geographically diverse group of people and to make sure that business, academia and government has an easy way to track some of our stand-out performers in various areas of the law”, said John.
Ms. John went on to elaborate on the professional development issues that NASABA is helping to address for its members in a way that less sharply focused organizations can not. “We have a variety of specialty legal sections that are developing as resource for our group and the legal profession at large. This year we have added both professional development and mentoring resources for our members as well as new sections on tax and healthcare law that compliment our many other legal education sections.”
NASABA serves as the umbrella organization for twenty-seven (27) regional South Asian bar associations throughout the United States and Canada. Together this group represents a growing national community of over 6,000 attorneys and law students making significant contributions in public service, private practice, business and academia.
NASABA attorneys provide skilled legal representation in a wide variety of practice areas including: public service, litigation, labor and employment law, asset protection, immigration, intellectual property, advanced tax and estate planning, environmental law, real estate, bankruptcy, health care, criminal law, education and business law to name just a few. The lawyers listed below will serve NASABA for the next year and bring substantial experience to their various positions.
