Nashville tree expert says now is good time to replace dead trees

It also allows them time to grow roots. You don’t want to wait until it is almost summer or when the heat arrives.”

The tree expert advised residents not to forget watering the trees.

“Just because the weather is cooler now does not mean trees do not need water. They still do especially since they are still growing their roots. If you fail to water properly, the trees will die,” he said.

Martinez said planting trees in the fall gives them additional time. “It is important to get trees in the ground before the temperatures get hotter and drier. Also in cooler weather, the soil is compacted, giving the trees excellent root to soil contact.”
