For years, Nashville, TN invested resources towards reducing flooding, helping trees grow more vibrant in city parks and making waterways cleaner.
This week, Kaily’s Tree Service (http://www.kailystreeservice.com) along with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) water program commended the city for its efforts.
“The city has done a tremendous job of helping the environment and the trees. This is especially important when you consider the drought we just lived through in most parts of the country”, said Flavio Martinez, owner of Nashville’s leading tree removal company, Kaily’s Tree Service.
“The city deserves commendation. We are glad they take environmental and tree related issues seriously. Nashville has shown itself to be one of the leading cities on environmental issues and we are proud of the city for that. Every step the city takes to make the environment better can only help the city’s trees in the future,” the certified Arborist added.
The Natural Resources Defense Council water program cited the city as a shining example of what can be accomplished with determination. In a report titled “Rooftops to Rivers II, the NRDC commended the city for “making its rivers cleaner by making the cityscape literally greener.”
“The city has shown a commitment to increasing its requirements and incentives for green infrastructure in the near future,” the NRDC report said.
“The Metro Council and Mayor Dean have already set aside $5 million from Metro Nashville’s capital spending budget to begin an acquisition fund; they expect to build the fund with private contributions. Additionally, they’ve taken the first step toward meeting the 22,000-acre green space goal by agreeing to purchase a 135-acre former private airport for $1.2 million.”
“Doing so will serve to connect two adjacent parks, create a 936-acre swath of open space, and provide an additional buffer to surrounding neighborhoods to protect them from future flood events,” the report continued.
Nashville mayor, Karl Dean said the city is proud of this achievement. “Metro must lead by example, and I hope the light this shines on our successes will spur the private sector to also adopt low-impact development, such as green roofs and natural plantings designed to absorb and filter storm water,” the Mayor said.
Kaily’s Tree Service offers 24-hour emergency tree service. “We are available 24 hours to assist Nashville residents with their tree needs. We have trained professionals ready to tackle all tree related issues from trimming, removal, pruning, topping, disease management to stump grinding. They just need to call us 615-496-1542.” said owner Flavio Martinez.
