Mumbai: National Australia Bank (NAB) today officially launched its first branch in India, further strengthening its commitment to the region.
The branch, located in Mumbai, will support existing Institutional, Corporate and Business Banking customers operating in or trading with India.
It will also provide a link for Indian clients looking to expand or invest in Australia or New Zealand, particularly in the energy, education and agribusiness sectors.

Rob Wright, CEO Asia, National Australia Bank, said the launch of the branch was a considered step forward in NAB’s long-term commitment to the region.
“India’s bilateral trade with Australia and New Zealand is rising continually and we believe that the Mumbai branch will help facilitate greater economic, trade and investment flows between the three countries.” said Mr Wright.
Establishing a branch in India is a step towards National Australia Bank's overall Asia strategy to expand in the market, as it opens up opportunities to support customers that participate in trade activity and business opportunities with India.

The opening of the Mumbai branch follows the successful opening of NAB's first branch in Shanghai, China in October 2011 and will support NAB's growing capability throughout the Asia region supplementing other established branches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

Mr. Rajeev Pant will manage the India operations and he will be supported by an experienced local and international team with extensive experience in banking.

The branch is uniquely positioned to meet the banking needs of our Australia and New Zealand clients in India and those of our India clients trading or investing in Australia or New Zealand.
