National Black MBA Association, Twin Cities Chapter Announces 2011 Scholarship Recipients

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) July 27, 2011 -- MINNEAPOLIS, MINN (July 28, 2011) – Forty-thousand dollars worth of scholarships will be awarded to eleven college and university students by the Twin Cities chapter of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) at its 30th annual scholarship gala. The scholarships are awarded to minority students with outstanding performances in academia and community service. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4 at the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel, 1001 Marquette Ave. S., Minneapolis.

This year’s theme, “Power up Your Profitability,” demonstrates the need of the NBMBAA and its membership to transform with a different set of attitudes, knowledge, skills and abilities to realize their full potential. The choice of this theme could not have come at a more appropriate time, as recent studies have identified young minorities as one of the hardest hit groups since the global recession began. Education, entrepreneurship and investments in innovative business ventures will be instrumental in improving this grim landscape.

Malcolm Allen, founder of 26 small businesses and franchises located across six states, will be the keynote speaker at the dinner honoring the scholarship recipients. His techniques and implementation process has helped thousands of entrepreneurs increase the value of their businesses and enrich their personal lives. He has developed a series of empowerment kits to help professionals and entrepreneurs create new opportunities in today's fast-changing environment. He has given presentations and speeches to corporations at all levels from CEO/Chairman on down to colleges, universities and high schools across the United States and abroad.

“As we celebrate our 30th scholarship awards ceremony,” says Robert Ngwu, president of the Twin Cities NBMBAA chapter, “We remain strongly committed to our core mission of leading in the creation of educational opportunities and economic wealth for African Americans.”

Over the last twenty-nine years, the NBMBAA has awarded over $230,000 in scholarships to college and university students around the country.
