Timesareachanging and Taser Gun give new meaning to the words, making history, then retiring at "harness racing's own charity" in Wisconsin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 30, 2011 -- The American Standardbred Adoption Program in Wisconsin serves the nation's racing industry by providing a retirement farm and stabling site for non racing Standardbred and Thoroughbreds. The farm is at full capacity this year, as are most horse rescue and adoption facilities, but the world will not soon forget some of the racing greats who find sanctuary there.

Timesareachanging retired before age six, with lifetime earnings of close to two MILLION dollars. His trainer sought placement for him with ASAP Inc., and arranged to have him shipped to Wisconsin in 2008. Times has lived there ever since, and visitors come to stand in awe before a horse who raced with such heart and was such a fierce competitor.

Taser Gun was dubbed "Illinois's Race Horse", boasting lifetime winnings of 1.3 MILLION dollars. Taser Gun was donated to ASAP in 2007 as a 12 year old, and still graces the sanctuary's farm, having been retrained to saddle. Taser has a voracious personality which captivates everyone from volunteers to 4-H horse club members, and girl scouts.

These two names are nationally known, and perhaps even remembered world-wide, but there are 23 additional horses at the ASAP farm who gave their hearts to racing and, perhaps, were not as famous, but are just as precious in the public's eye. All retired race horses at ASAP require hay, feed, farrier work, and routine veterinary care provided by ASAP. The dollars needed to feed all horses is in short supply this year, and adoptive homes for horses waiting for them even more rare. ASAP cannot take in any more horses from race tracks until horses waiting at the farm have been placed. Donations are needed, and anyone willing to make those donations should call 608-689-2296 or email asapinc@mwt.net
