Our founder Tom Rundquist, M.A. LPC experimented with substances in the 1969-early 70's after becoming commissioned as an Infantry Officer thru the 2yr Senior Army ROTC in graduate school 1969 at Eastern Michigan University and getting a medical discharge for hearing loss. He also attended Ferris State University and Wayne State University Graduate School and WSU Applied Management and Technology Center.His last use of alcohol was 1993..

He counseled in Detroit for Wayne County Health Dept. NARA/DAPS 1969-1975 and Wayne County Sheriff's Dept.1975-1978. He also worked as a substance abuse counselor for SHAR House Detroit House of Correction Women's Division. AIn 1970 he published Horse is Boss (Drug Culture Monopoly) as a simulation with the help of his ex-addicts to help prevent substance abuse and treat addicts. It was featured in the Detroit News Sunday paper in the early 1970's. He also was on Detroit radio talk programs for such issues and on a Detroit TV news program. He also was on the Michigan Democratic Committee for Crime and Drugs to help create treatment programs in Detroit area. Many of these programs are still in existence.

Note: that Horse is Boss (Drug Culture Monopoly) 2nd Ed. was featured in the Grand Rapids Press about 1987. And 1,000 copies where donated to licensed drrug programs throughout the USA.

He refers his clients often to AA and NA as part of treatment. These groups give people a place to go with other people who are attempting to stop using alcohol or drugs. Too often most locatons that people go a drink or substance is offered as part of socializing as soon as they open the door.

His publications often center on how to treat various health issues such as cataracts, arthritis, high cholesterol, drug use, and talk about religious expression groups that use drugs.
