A group of Wisconsin volunteers, under the guidance of Election Defense Alliance, is planning to hold Exit Polls at several polling sites throughout the state on Tuesday.
“Computerized vote counting is concealed vote counting,” explains a handout from the group on the need for Exit Polling, “and many questions have been raised about the integrity of elections in which votes are counted outside of public view.”
“Hand-counting a sample of Citizens’ Written Exit Poll surveys,” the piece continues, “provides a standard of comparison that may detect disparities between an official tally based on computerized tabulation and how citizens themselves indicate that they voted.”
Voters are asked to complete an anonymous Citizens' Written Exit Poll Survey indicating how they voted inside in the official vote, then fold and place their survey form in a sealed collection box.
Voters are invited to observe or help count the survey ballots in a public place after the polls close. The location will be publicized at their sites.
Election Defense Alliance is a national non-partisan organization, working to restore citizen oversight to our elections. They have conducted citizen-run Exit Polls in close to a dozen states over the last several years.
