FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 1, 2010 --
Cosmetology students and salons across the country will be sharpening their shears to raise money on May 19 for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The Cut-A-Thons are being organized by Pivot Point International, a global hair and beauty education company based in Evanston, ILL.

The Chicago area events will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Pivot Point’s three Chicagoland campuses: 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, 847-905-5300; 3901 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, 773-463-3121; and 144C East Lake St., Bloomingdale, 847-985-5900. Reservations for hair and esthetic services can be made at each location.
In addition Pivot Point will again partner with the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) and its Cut-It-Out program to assist their efforts in ending domestic violence. Through this partnership, Pivot Point Academies throughout the Chicago area will sell Cut-a-Thon Certificates, which will be donated to local shelters for their residents to redeem for services at the academies throughout the coming year. All money raised through the sale of these certificates will be donated to NCMEC

Last year Pivot Point Academies, other cosmetology schools and salons raised nearly $100,000 thanks to the efforts of students, faculty and staff at 100 locations across the country. Overall, Pivot Point has raised close to $1 million.
According to the U.S. government, an average of 2,185 children are reported missing each day. Research indicates that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys will be sexually victimized before adulthood. Approximately one in seven youths online (10 to 17-years-old) received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet.
