Navega Honduras secures ISO/IEC 27001: 2005 Certification

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, January 15th, 2011. Navega, a telecommunications company, leader in the data transport industry, broadband corporate internet and aggregated value services, has attained ISO27001: 2005 certification (International Standard Organization) under UKAS accreditation by the establishment of its Information Security Management System under the previously mentioned standard. Navega has obtained ISO27001: 2005 certification from the independent auditor firm Det Norske Veritas (www.dnv.com) a company with world wide leadership and accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (www.ukas.com) which is the only accreditation organism acknowledged by the government of the United Kingdom to assess companies that offer certification services according to international norms.
According to the information of the International Register of ISMS certificates (www.iso27001certificates.com), there are currently 7,058 certified companies in 83 countries world wide of which there are only 70 certified countries companies in 9 Latin American countries.

ISO27001: 2005 is the only international norm which contains the requirements for the establishment of the Information Security Management System conformed by methodology and controls focused on safeguarding Confidentiality, Availability, and Integrity of the information by lowering threats and vulnerabilities in the context of general company risks.
