Nebraska cookbook wins honorable mention in New England Book Festival

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 28, 2010 -- Lincoln, Neb.—Frances Schaffer, the former Grand Island, Neb., restaurateur, has had her cookbook awarded with an honorable mention in the 2009 New England Book Festival. “Shortcuts to Gourmet Cooking and Family Favorites” competed against many other cookbooks from across the country. This is the second honorable mention the cookbook has won since placing in the 2009 San Francisco Book Festival.

Fran followed in the footsteps of her Italian grandmother and mother when she opened her restaurant in 1983. For 22 years, Nonna’s Palazzo in Grand Island served homemade Italian cooking the way Fran learned it in the kitchens of her youth, with an emphasis on natural ingredients and fewer processed foods. Fran’s 400-page cookbook, published by Infusionmedia Publishing of Lincoln, Neb., is the culmination of her cooking experience and the shortcuts she has learned along the way.
