Nemco Utilities – Supporting local Enterprise

Established players in the building risk management industry, specifically water hygiene and fire, Nemco have also been able to provide support and resource to a number of local charities and organisations.

In May Nemco were able to provide sponsorship in the form of equipment for a group of four young men from nearby Thurston Air Training Corps to complete their gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. The team comprising an air cadet, a uniformed officer and two civilian instructors organised and canoed a 110 km section of the River Wye.

June saw involvement in the Three Peaks Challenge, this time in support of the Karen Morris Memorial Trust. Nemco provided vehicles, fuel and accommodation and the group were led by Directors Debbie and Tony Green. Around £2,000 was raised for the charity which provides home from home facilities for leukaemia patients and their families.

Most recently the Nemco team organised a sports day for the local Diss branch of Friends of Chernobyl’s Children. The charity provides placements in England each year for children from the Mogilev and Gomel regions of Belarus whose lives have been, and continue to be, affected by the nuclear disaster. The day proved a huge success with a resounding rendition of ‘If you’re happy and you know it’ sung by the children at the end of the day.

Future projects are already being planned with links currently being forged with a local community college and a number of staff looking to become ‘Stem Ambassadors’ having already designed and delivered a careers workshop for the students
