New Arrival Eases Childbirth
Today sees the launch of a new choice for expectant mothers in the UK. Dianatal® Obstetric Gel has been developed by Swiss obstetric specialist, Dr Andreas Schaub, to ease childbirth for mother and baby.
A first of its kind in the UK, Dianatal® Obstetric Gel works by reducing friction between the baby and the mother’s birth canal during labour. This means that there is a lower probability of a prolonged ‘pushing stage’ of labour, which in turn reduces the likelihood of complications or intervention such as forceps or vacuum deliveries and consequent damage to the perineum.
Clinical studies undertaken with first time mothers showed that Dianatal® Obstetric Gel significantly reduced the risk of perineal injury during normal vaginal delivery and reduced the pushing stage of labour by up to 30%.
Dianatal® Obstetric Gel has been tested by clinical experts in a number of European clinical trials and the product has been used by over 10,000 women in Europe and the Middle East since its approval for use in 2007.
Second to the safety of their baby, one of the main concerns for many expectant mothers hoping to give birth vaginally is the possibility of damage to their bodies, notably their perineum. Dianatal® Obstetric Gel provides women with an option to ease childbirth and help make their birth experience more comfortable and therefore more positive.

Dianatal® Obstetric Gel is typically applied by a doctor or midwife throughout the first and second stages of labour and
does not cause any discomfort to mother or baby. Each kit contains a set of sterile disposable applicators so that a
healthcare professional can apply small amounts at the time of routine vaginal examinations.
