The newly unveiled AIJV Website of the Year Award is a prize open to all Independent Jewellery Valuers worldwide, not just AIJV members. This move reflects the AIJV’s non-insular approach and its desire to reach out to all truly independent valuers, whether they are members or not.

AIJV’s Co-ordinator Adrian Smith said, “The Internet has now become the public face of many industries and the consumer's perception of the jewellery valuation profession is very often formed by the websites presented by the businesses within it.” In addition to promoting members’ businesses, AIJV seeks to encourage a professional and ethical view of jewellery appraisal and valuation. Adrian continued, “One way to achieve our objectives is by rewarding those that present the profession in a positive way. An international award, that will benefit the winner greatly, is a wonderful method of not only recognising the efforts of the winning website owner but will encourage others to take a fresh look at how the public sees them.”

The winner’s website and business will enjoy a period of publicity using a variety of media principally focused on their home country. In addition, a graphic “seal” will be produced for use on their website and a profile of their business will be hosted by the AIJV Awards website.

The nominated websites will be judged on a variety of factors, including their aesthetic appeal, clarity of information and ease of navigation. Nominations are not restricted to the eight countries in which AIJV has representation, additionally, the website can be in any language.

The association is encouraging Valuers to enter their own websites into the competition but is also expecting consumers, retailers and other valuers to nominate websites that they feel are worthy of recognition. The closing date for nominations is the 15th June 2011, after which, the shortlisted nominations will be revealed and publicised. The winner will be announced on the 15th July.
Nominations can be made via the AIJV Awards website www.AIJVawards.org.
