New Career Skills a provider of training in plumbing, electrics and renewable energy for mature career changers, has launched many courses over the years to handle the shortage of construction workers in the UK, enabling men and women of any age to transform their career.
NCS, established in 1998, is very experienced in the needs of the plumbing and electrical industries and the high standards they require. "New Career Skills does not expect its graduates to walk out of its courses and into your home, but sees itself as a source for skilled, qualified and mature individuals with the assurance, knowledge and enthusiasm to go into the industry and progress on to NVQ2 and over time to NVQ3. Employers can assume that our students have had the best preparation and guidance available, otherwise we don't award them with an NCS certificate."
NCS graduates have been in employment with companies such as: British Gas, Plumb Local, Initial Building Services, Peoples Plumbers, Dyno Rod, Gas Care, Awesome Bathrooms & Plumbing, to name but a few.
The NCS plumbing course was started due to the removal of the City & Guilds 6988 plumbing qualification. This meant that those wanting to enter plumbing employment from other careers would struggle to find a clear path to enter the plumbing business. NCS's training is an enhanced, updated and extended version of the 6988.
Commenting, Trever Dormedy, founder of NCS, said: "There are other training providers offering courses such as the C&G 6032, but as anybody in the industry knows, these certificates do not offer the breadth and depth of training to work to the NVQ2 or to add real value to most employers. With the plumbing course we have answered the needs of both industry and mature career changers, many who have work and family commitments and can't afford to take weeks off work to train."
The electrical training was setup due to the shortage of qualified electrical engineers. The reason for these skill shortages include the limited facilities within local colleges to tackle the shortage anԁ over subscription to these training courses also. With Part P the new building regulation introduced in early 2005, the demand for skilled electrical engineers is sure to increase.
The electrician training course enables men anԁ women of any age to train anԁ change their career with ease and at their own pace.
Not only do NCS train their students, they also give them guidance into finding their first job. NCS Career Search has been setup to help their current students & graduates from all of their courses find employment and work experience.
