New Data in Continuing Studies Shows A Significant Increase in Regenerative Cell Concentrations with the Use of Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture System, also known as TICKLE LIPO.

Millennium Medical Technologies and Medical Alliance Services release new data this week that supplements and supports an original a study presented in August of 2011 at the Coronado International Adipose Stem Cell Aesthetic Surgery Workshop. The study compared Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (NIL), a new method and technique which yields human adipose tissue, lipoaspirate, for regenerative cell (ADRC) analysis, in parallel, to the traditional liposuction method, often referred to as manual liposuction.

The original 12 patient comparative study was reviewed and discussed by physicians and scientists in the field spurring MAS and MMT, to expand their testing and further validate many of the original samples utilizing the “properly preserved samples.” These further tests were performed by Flow Contract Site Laboratory, an independent lab in Kirkland, Washington, via Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) Flow Cytometry applications using a Becton Dickinson FACSCanto™ Flow Cytometer.

Originally, it was noted that there was a 30% increase in CD34+ cell concentration in the NIL sample compared to the manual sample. The additional testing revealed, the NIL sample yielded an even more significant increase at 59% rather than 30%, possibly due to expanding the population range of cells analyzed and the use of a more sophisticated analysis program. (CD34+ cells are a mixture of stem cells, progenitors, and white blood cells of various degrees of maturity.) Additionally a test for CD45, a marker for leukocytes (or white blood cells), was included per the request of several industry thought leaders seeking to better understand the cellular make up of the samples. It was found that only 44% of the total population of CD34+ cells were also CD45+ when analyzing the NIL samples. In contrast 60% of the total population of CD34+ cells were also CD45+ when analyzing the manual liposuction samples. It is believed that less CD45+ cells are desired for use in many regenerative medicine applications.
What Does This Mean To The Average Consumer? For those patients whose physicians are utilizing nutational infrasonic technology to collect their fat – it means they are potentially increasing their chances of securing fat which is healthy and rich with regenerative cells for their own immediate use or to be banked for future use. Additional studies will allow greater understanding of how adipose-derived stem cells have the potential for a clinically relevant benefit in soft-tissue augmentation and many other medical applications.

Now in progress - an additional study with Dr. Joel Aronowitz, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Cedar Sinai Medical Center, and several other notable physicians.
