FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 5, 2010 --
The Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals (ALDAP), a non-profit organization established in 2007 to serve the legal document assistant (LDA) and paralegal professions, has announced the appointment of three LDAs to its Board of Directors. Moira Boyle was appointed to the position of Director of Fundraising & Membership, Jeanne Wierson, CP was appointed Director of Compliance & Ethics, and Gail Hahn was appointed Education Director.
As one of ALDAP’s co-founders, Moira Boyle is perfectly suited to fill the role of membership recruitment and development. Boyle served as ALDAP’s founding president in 2007, and has recently re-joined the Board of Directors, to lend her experience and inspiration to ALDAP’s efforts to boost professional integrity and protect consumers. “I am proud of all that ALDAP has accomplished thus far, and look forward to helping the association shape the future of the LDA profession,” said Boyle.
As Director of Membership & Fundraising, Boyle is charged with recruiting active, student and advisory members; coordinating events; and networking ALDAP with complementary legal professionals. Boyle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, a certificate in Conflict Management and the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and is a Certified Mediator.
Jeanne Wierson, CP brings more than 30 years of accounting and legal experience to the association. She holds two degrees, accounting and paralegal, and has attained the Certified Paralegal® designation from the National Association of Legal Assistants. Before establishing her LDA practice, Wierson worked as a paralegal and document examiner at the Riverside Superior Court. As Director of Compliance & Ethics, Wierson fields complaints from consumers who have been harmed by document preparers and “rogue paralegals,” and ensures association members adhere to the Legal Document Assistant Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and the LDA Client’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. Wierson also co-chairs ALDAP’s Court Liaison Committee.
A life-long paralegal, Gail Hahn, was one of San Diego County’s first registered Legal Document Assistants. Her practice also offers paralegal and mediation services. As Education Director, Hahn co-chairs the Court Liaison Committee, serves as the point of contact for ALDAP’s recommendations to the Judicial Council of California’s Elkins Family Law Task Force, and oversees ALDAP’s educational events, including the popular LDA Roundtable.
“ALDAP is fortunate to have a Board comprised of leaders who are dedicated to addressing the most critical issues facing consumers as they access the judicial system,” said Kathleen Mountjoy, co-founder and president of the association. “The Board continues to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to professional integrity and consumer protection for all self-represented litigants.”
