Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Officer Team is announced!
On June 7th – 13th, eight FBLA members underwent a rigorous leadership immersion, training program. These students were elected by their peers at the 2011 FBLA Arizona – State Leadership Conference at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, AZ. The eight students were elected to serve on the 2011-2012 FBLA Arizona – State Officer Team. The State Officer Team serves as the student voice and leadership of the FBLA Arizona organization. The training they received in June is the beginning of an ongoing 12-month leadership development that includes: public speaking, networking, traveling, advocating, recruiting, etiquette, plus much more. At the conclusion of the training in June, the final positions for the student leaders were announced. The team is as follows:
Shelby Anger – State President (Pima High School)
Lacy Hunt – VP of Leadership Development (Buckeye Union High School)
Kaycie Quinonez - Region 1 Vice-President (Safford High School)
Nura Smadi - Region 3 Vice-President (Centennial High School)
Bart Zalanski - Region 4 Vice-President (Boulder Creek High School)
Ebitie Amughan - VP of Media Relations (Buckeye Union High School)
Sam Bhat - VP of Human Resources (Estrella Foothills High School)
Bridgette Sorg - VP of Communciation (Prescott High School)
FBLA is a dynamic organization of young people who are actively interested in pursuing careers in business. With over 225,000 members nation-wide, FBLA is the premier student business organization in the world. Along with scholarship, community service and civic service opportunities, FBLA provides recognition and leadership activities directly related to attainment of specific occupational and leadership skills. FBLA Arizona has over 5,000 members in 102 high schools and middle schools across the state. FBLA Arizona is housed and funded in-part by Career and Technical Education Division in the Arizona Department of Education, John Huppenthal – State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
