New HabershamCommunity.org to Launch June 1st

(Free-Press-Release.com) May 26, 2010 -- Over the past few months, a group of citizens in Habersham County have been developing a brand-new social networking website for Habersham County. Known as HabershamCommunity.org, this new website will contain blogs from county residents, discussion groups pertaining to different towns and interests in the community, media sharing, information on tourism, and links to online directories and other websites on Habersham County.

“We’ve seen how social networking is the future of delivering timely information to the community,” said Walton Smith, one of the website’s administrators. “We realize that in order to properly serve Habersham County with up-to-date, relevant information, we must take advantage of new technologies such as social networking and blogging.”

HabershamCommunity.org will be a community site where anyone in Habersham County can join for free, start a blog, share photos and videos, and join in the various discussion groups with other HabershamCommunity.org members.

“Think of this as the Facebook of Habersham County” said Nathan Parker, HabershamCommunity.org’s web designer. “We want everyone in Habersham County to have a place to post information about their community and to discuss local happenings with one another. While there have been other websites in the past to provide information to Habersham County, what is unique with HabershamCommunity.org is that anyone can join and contribute information to the site.”

HabershamCommunity.org has been developed as a community project consisting of organizations such as Friends of Good Government. Members of the web development team include: Jim Blackburn, Pete Davitto, Joe Inglis, David Todd, and Walton Smith. The website design work was handled by Nathan Parker, President/CEO of Mallard Computer, Inc. HabershamCommunity.org is set to go live to the public on June 1.
