Mr Stephens, the owner of the Wardhope Centre, isn't very particular about whom he sends deep into the darkness below and, oddly, he doesn't even advertise the event. He isn't stupid though; he has his reasons. After all, he knows firsthand of the horrors that lurk within and the devastating darkness that's tainted his soul and continues to haunt him to this very day.

With a splash of black humour and elements of gore and violence, this book is not suitable for anyone under the age of fifteen.



EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK:

A hand appeared out from the gap, the fingers thick, green and stubby and the nails short and black. It grabbed the stone lid and continued to push it slowly to the side. Larry wiped his mouth and walked to the opposite side of the altar where he helped pull the lid until it fell to the floor with a heavy thud. The smell was almost unbearable. He covered his nose and mouth, waiting by the side of the altar for the man to get out.

The lumpy hand reached out for him to hold. œHelp Bloater get out.

Larry edged closer and tentatively reached over to assist. His eyes opened wide and aghast with what he witnessed within. Before he had a chance to pull away, the man grabbed him by his neck and yanked him further inside. Face to face with the gruesome, grinning fiend, he screamed as Bloater clamped his teeth on his nose and viciously ripped it off. Amidst the spurting blood and chaos, Larry flayed his arms in the air and attempted to pull back to safety but Bloater was far too strong for him. Something sharp shredded his back and Bloater smashed his head repeatedly against the side of the opening until Larry could take no more and flopped, defeated, on top of the hideous beast.
