New Jersey Turnaround Management Association Welcomes New President and Directors

At their recent Annual Meeting held in Newark, NJ at The Martini 494 Bistro, the New Jersey Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association welcomed a new president and elected a slate of officers.

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 27, 2012 -- Raritan, NJ, January 26, 2012 – At their recent Annual Meeting held in Newark, NJ at The Martini 494 Bistro, the New Jersey Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (“NJTMA”) welcomed a new president and elected a slate of officers for 2012.

Outgoing president Nicholas Jalowski, CTP, Cambridge Financial Services, will remain on the Executive Committee as Chairman of the Board. Outgoing chairman Paul D. Schuldiner will remain on the board of directors. Both will assist the new president as needed. At the Annual Meeting, Jalowski formally handed off the reins to Paul Rome of University Management Associates & Consultants Corp.

“The past few years have been very exciting for me as we grew into the 10th largest chapter in the country, so it is with mixed feelings I am turning over the presidency of our Chapter to the most capable and indefatigable Paul Rome. There can be no doubt that he will ably guide us over the next two years in the TMA universe,” Jalowski said.

Paul Rome is the CEO of University Management Associates & Consultants Corp, an accounts receivable management company. An expert in liquidation of accounts receivable, he works on Chapter 11, Chapter 7, Receivership and Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors engagements. He is a recognized expert on accounts receivable fraud as well as on the evaluation of accounts receivable in business as usual or wind down scenarios for companies across a wide breadth of industries.

Rome thanked Jalowski for his tireless service and said he’s ready to hit the ground running. “I’m energized to be taking on the NJTMA leadership at a time when there are already so many exciting initiatives under way. From the Next Generation program for young professionals to the recently formed Women’s Division, to a full program of educational and networking events, 2012 is going to be a very interesting year.”

The 2012 slate of officers is comprised of:

In addition, three new members were elected to the Board of Directors:

Steven Agran, Managing Director, MorrisAnderson – Mr. Agran has spent over a decade providing turnaround and interim management services. He has successfully assumed positions as Chief Restructuring Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. He has vast experience handling liquidation and asset sales, budgeting and cash flow for distressed and failing companies, and bankruptcies. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor.

Sharon L. Levine, Esq., member in the Lowenstein Sandler Bankruptcy, Financial Reorganization & Creditors' Rights Group – Ms. Levine has been involved in some of the nation's largest bankruptcy cases. Her practice focuses exclusively on bankruptcy, restructuring, debtor-creditor law and bankruptcy litigation. Ms. Levine is featured in the 2008-2011 editions of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and in the 2005-2011 issues of Super Lawyers in the Bankruptcy and Workout section of the publication. Ms. Levine is a frequent lecturer on various bankruptcy topics, including issues of protection of creditors' rights in bankruptcy, automotive and chemical restructuring, discharge and fraud, media bankruptcy issues, bankruptcy lease issues, telecommunication bankruptcy issues, airline restructurings, preference issues, protection of creditors' rights in bankruptcy, and pre-bankruptcy planning.

Harvey Topitz, Principal and Founder, Rivers Insurance Group – Mr. Topitz has more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry. He specializes in placing property casualty insurance for all industries, including wholesale, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, employee leasing, entertainment and contracting. He also specializes in providing insurance for businesses in distressed and bankruptcy situations. Mr. Topiz began his insurance career at Liberty Mutual, where he was awarded Top Producers designation and was a member of the prestigious Millionaires Club. At BRI he introduced innovating services such as an asbestos abatement program. While with Tanenbaum Harber, now Alliant/T&H Brokers, he excelled in the hard-to-insure employee leasing industry (PEO) and the entertainment sector. He founded Rivers Insurance Group in 2005.

The Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is the only international non-profit association dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management.
