New Pea, Apple & Mint Soup from "Look what we found!"

September 23, 2011

Look what we found! have created a recipe combining small British regional farmer Paul Saxon's irresistibly tender garden peas with mint and apple to bring out the flavour.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 23, 2011 -- Paul Saxon, who cultivates Yorkshire peas as part of the Swaythorpe Growers partnership of over 40 family farms, knows a thing or two about producing irresistibly tender garden peas. For one thing, he knows that they grow best in a maritime climate and that is just what they get on the softly sloping hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Many of the Swaythorpe Growers are second or third generation pea growers and know not only when and which conditions to plant in, but take great care to pick their crop at the exact moment that the harvest is sweetest and tenderest. Once the peas are removed from the pods, Swaythorpe‘s Pea Podders return waste pods to the field. After a quick wash and a brief blanch, the peas are flash frozen within 150 minutes of being picked, retaining the vitamins and freshness.

“Look what we found!” are not just proud to have found small British regional farmer Paul Saxon, but also to have created a recipe combining his beautiful produce with two ingredients which partner them so well. Everyone appreciates that mint and peas are a good match, but many will not be aware that the sweetness of apple brings out the flavour of peas, making it even more vibrant and lively. Try our thick, hearty soup (we are happy to send you a sample pouch) and see for yourself. If you are feeling adventurous, try it chilled as a really refreshing starter at dinner, or for lunch.

More and more shoppers want to know who bred or grew the food they are eating and it is not unusual to see the farmer on the front of the pack nowadays. But provenance proof has been at the heart of “Look what we found!“ ready meals and soups since the very beginning. The farmer has always had top billing.

Our Values & Our Farmers...

“Look what we found!” combine innovation and tradition using fine ingredients, sourced from small regional British farmers, in traditional recipes which are cooked in a gentle process and sealed in a pouch to capture the flavour and goodness. It all adds up to food that is all natural, tastes as good as homemade, is ready in minutes and needs no fridge.
