In January 2010, the tourist offices of Béziers, Villeneuve-le-Béziers, Valras and Sérignan in the south of France were amalgamated to form the Béziers Mediterranean Tourist Office (0TBM).
The new tourist office will promote a new tourist region known as “Destination Béziers Mediterranean”. This region covers 13 towns and villages, all nestling in glorious sun-drenched landscape between the mountains and the sea.
At the hub of the region is Béziers itself - a beautiful, historic town on the River Orb and a stopping point on the Canal du Midi. Famous for its summer festivals, excellent wines and street markets, it's a great base for exploring the surrounding region.
Not far from Béziers is the historic village of Villeneuve-le-Béziers, which also sits on the Canal du Midi: the magnificent tree-lined waterway that links the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. Only 4km from the coast, Villeneuve has a beautiful 12th century church and the remains of an old aqueduct.
Valras is a lively coastal resort, with its acres of fine sandy beaches, along with plenty of watersports facilities and summer entertainments. This is the French equivalent of a good old 'buckets and spades' resort, but with the added attraction of excellent fish restaurants and the Mediterranean sunshine beating down.
Sérignan, meanwhile, is a rural village at the heart of the southern French vineyards, with an historic Gallo-Roman centre, beautiful gardens and its own small seaside resort at Sérignan-plage.
