Almost 35% DVDR users do not know the basics of DVDRs? It seems hard to believe but it is true. Recently RiverPro conducted a survey in 9 continents of UK covering the users of all categories. Under this survey, users of all ages and varied professions were interviewed. The Head of R&D division at RiverPro told, “The purpose of this survey was never to test the skill. Instead, we wanted to test the general awareness about the different DVD options. The primary objective for this exercise was to find out the responsible reasons for the wrong usage of recordable media even by the experienced professionals. The use of proper format of DVDR is must to optimize the production cost.”
The results were really surprising but promising. RiverPro deals in disc printing and publishing solutions since decades. Head of Service division says, “We deal only in tested, reputed and established brands like Epson, R-quest, Primera and Microboards etc. Sometimes, we get the compliant from the users of discs publishers or printers. The most common reason, we find, is the wrong selection of DVD. It is interesting, that users do not select the recordable medial other than recommended to save but they commit this mistake unknowingly. Therefore, to help out our valuable clients, we are trying to create awareness about the right selection of DVDs for getting the best results.”
Basically there are two kinds of DVDR. One is DVD+R and second is DVD-R. Water resistant 'Photo finish' DVD+Rs of Taiyo Yuden are gaining extreme popularity because these are scratch resistant also. Scratch resistant JVC DVD-Rs have become popular among the professionals of all grade and fields. Some brands of printers and duplicators recommend the use of DVD-R while others suggest DVD+R. On being asked about the difference between the two, Head of Service division clarified, “DVD-R is write-once format. After burning the data once, DVD platter is frozen for forever with that encoded information. These can be played on most home DVD players. DVD-R media is the cheapest recordable media. DVD+R is advanced version of DVD-R. DVD+Rs are more expensive and can’t be burned by “plus-type” burners of 1st generation, designed for DVD+RW discs.”
It is not a marketing campaign; instead it is an awareness program. Users of discs can forward their queries to RiverProAudio. The company is planning to organize training camps also in near future. The primary aim of these camps would be to train the users for using recording, printing and publishing hardware successfully, so that, they could get the results as per their expectations.
