New Tattoo Co. "Opens up Shop" at Hilltop Mall

(Free-Press-Release.com) May 12, 2010 -- RICHMOND, CA - Inside of Hilltop Mall next to Macy's, a new storefront appeared this week that has been grabbing a great deal of attention from shoppers passing by. The Ink Addicts Tattoo Co., with it's rugged sheet metal sign and eye grabbing displays of blown up tattoos on arms, torsos, and even necks, is the first of it's kind in the mall and people can't seem to pass by without at least taking a look.

A trendy tattoo shop with a mind for couture is exactly the type of bold and outside-the-box business the owners believe will help revive commerce and attract other business owners to the mall which currently has a substantial amount of vacant storefronts. A rep from the company said earlier, "We're trying to save the mall, and you're not going to do that with another smoothie stand. We need stuff that's going to get people excited to come here again."

Owner Trevor Johnson is a lifelong tattoo enthusiast that grew up in nearby El Cerrito. Once an amateur boxer, Johnson has strong connections with mixed martial arts circles and incorporated those elements into the vision for the Ink Addicts shop design. There is also a definite urban feel to the shop as the walls are decorated with photos of Hip-Hop stars the artists have tattooed and a thumping mix of rap music plays perpetually throughout the shop.

While the shop is already tattooing customers, Ink Addicts is holding it's official Grand Opening Ceremony this coming Friday, May 14 at 1pm. The shop will be giving all tattoos for 50% off and patrons will also receive a voucher for 50% off their next tattoo. While it's uncertain if this tattoo shop will succeed in it's vision of reviving Hilltop Mall, the company has already achieved one thing it set out to do simply by opening, and that is to turn people's heads and bring some attention back to the mall.
