Brief history:


We used to play darts on a regular basis at home, in dart leagues and attending tournaments. As exciting as darts is, keeping score often turned into “work” and took sway from the enjoyment of the match.


Let me explain.

We were always running out of chalk or using “stubs”, scratching fingernails on the chalkboard ,not to mention CLEANING - cleaning erasers, boards, chalk dust; the list goes on. Sometimes the board got so dirty, we could not even read our scores. Besides, none of that had anything to do with enjoying the game!


Later on we bought our first dry erase board. We liked it for its clarity but faced a set of new problems. Markers would be dried out when we needed them most. By mistake, someone used a PERMANENT marker. They required special cleansers in order to properly remove the previous games scores, which we always seemed to run out of, and required a trip to the store for supplies. We ended up spending more on markers, erasers and cleansers than we spent on the board !!!


What was next?

The electronic board ! It was great. We were sure that our troubles were over - until we ran out of batteries! We also had a electronic board with a cord and ended up running extension cords around the room and stapling the cord going up the wall to the board (not attractive!)


Good lighting is important in playing darts but often the light would make it difficult to read the electronic board and, from our experience, they sometimes made “mistakes” in scoring which was time consuming to correct.


We finally said – ENOUGH !


There must be a better way, we thought. It is amazing how great ideas come from great difficulties and that is just what happened……

Creativity kicked in. We ended up designing a scoreboard that dealt with all our problems.

It was a classic - a distinctive product which solved all the problems of needing supplies, electronics problems, unattractive scoreboards, hard to read scoring – they became a THING OF THE PAST !!
