Australia, Commonwealth of -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Feb 4, 2010 -- Greenflight, an Australian based provider of airline flight carbon offset programs, has just launched it’s new Carbon Offset website for airline flights at www.mygreenflight.com
Carbon credits from approved projects under the Voluntary Carbon Standard are used to offset greenhouse gas emissions, when emissions can’t be avoided. Using VCU credits, which are internationally recognised Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) carbon credits, means when passengers choose to offset their flights, they know they are doing the most good not only for the world but even better for it’s people.
And they can feel that confidence because VCS carbon credits are internationally recognised as coming from projects in developing countries with genuine Carbon emission reductions, but also projects that actually do good for the communities where they operate.
Projects that reduce the need for villagers to cut down firewood for fuel. Projects that provide cheap renewable power that lets local people improve their quality of life. Projects that actually improve the local environment, making living easier, as well as contributing to global Greenhouse Gas reductions.
But Greenflight knows that carbon offsets are not the answer to the Global Warming problem.
“Yes” says Dennis McMahon, Sales Manager for Greenflight “the real answer is avoiding the cause of the emissions - but that means no flying, no driving, no eating, no drinking – and nothing else as well. And that’s not going to happen, so we look at ways to reduce the emissions from the same activities (like more fuel efficient engines on planes).
And beyond that, we need to look at what else we can do"
The answer is to find other ways to reduce the overall emissions, and carbon offsets play a part in that. So that’s what Greenflight is providing – the opportunity for travelers to make a difference.
And the projects that Greenflight will use are designed to involve communities from developing countries on projects that have the Voluntary Carbon Standard stamp of approval, which means that we get the most bang for our buck, in terms of the social co-benefits of the projects as well as the emission reductions.
Dennis said "We really appreciate the airlines that are going to be giving us the opportunity to do more by having us supply their great clients with this fantastic opportunity.
The names of these airlines will be available in upcoming Press Releases.
And we encourage all travelers to use the carbon offset opportunity, and offset the emissions from their flights from our website www.mygreenflight.com , whoever they book with, whether online, through an airline or even travel agents."
The website is available for passengers to offset their flights by going directly to www.mygreenflight.com no matter which airline they are flying with.
