FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Redford, Michigan, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 17, 2011 -- Redford MI-January 17, 2011-The New Year has begun and the experts from Clean & Green Dryer Vent Experts, LLC would like to remind the consumer of unknown dangers in the laundry room.

On September 6, 2010 an overheated dryer caused a Chesterfield Township apartment complex to be engulfed in flames. The fire reportedly destroyed 12 out of the 24 units. Luckily there were no injuries, but the cost to rebuild the destroyed property will be exponential.

"Lack of maintenance." says Tim Reiher, President and C-DET certified technician for Clean & Green Dryer Vent Experts LLC. "Many of these dangers can be avoided through proper maintenance and education." says Reiher. What are a few things that a home owner can do to make their home safe? Check the smoke alarms and have your dryer vent checked. There is also an alarm for your dryer vent system called Lint Alert. Similar to the smoke alarm Lint Alert warns the consumer of a problem in the dryer vent before damage occurs.

What to look for:
• Excessive lint build up at the vent termination.
• Replace plastic of foil vent systems with solid metal venting.
• Replace exterior vent cover with a louvered cover to prevent animal and debris obstructions.
• Clean lint tray screen before and after drying a load.
• Wash lint screens with soap and water every few months to remove residue left behind by fabric softeners.

"Following these tips and looking for the warning signs can prevent serious risks to your safety and help maintain an efficient laundry room. 15,500 dryer fires are reported every year in this great nation. I believe along with Joe Gagnon, The Appliance Doctor, 3 times as many fires occur but are not reported" says Reiher.
