Nexgrid™ First To Achieve FIPS 140-2 Security Certification For Smart Grid Communication Gateway

Richmond, Virginia, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 10, 2012 -- Nexgrid™, the leading provider of standards-based smart grid solutions, today announced that their ecoNet smart grid gateway has been the first smart grid gateway to achieve certification of the FIPS 140-2 Security standard by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The FIPS 140-2 certification is the highest Security certification standard available today. During the certification process the ecoNet gateway underwent a comprehensive security analysis, vulnerability and penetration testing. In addition to evaluating the ecoNets internal and external hardware, its source code was also scrutinized by security experts to ensure strong security defenses and adherence to advanced cryptographic standards. The Department of Defense (DoD) and Utilities can now deploy Nexgrid’s Smart Grid Solution with the utmost confidence of secure data transmission.
