FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 26, 2010 --
(Reno, NV, January 26, 2010) In Business Las Vegas, a leading weekly business newspaper in Nevada, recently announced the 17 winners of its “Women to Watch 2010” awards. NITA Vice President Judy Jenner is among the winners who will be honored with a breakfast award ceremony on January 29, 2010, at the Palazzo hotel and casino.
Judy Jenner, a Spanish and German translator, interpreter, entrepreneur and speaker in Las Vegas, runs a small business, Twin Translations. She was nominated by a fellow small business owner in town. “It’s important that as linguists we start seeing ourselves more as entrepreneurs than ‘just’ as linguists. I frequently emphasize this to colleagues during my workshops, and I am delighted that In Business Las Vegas has chosen me as their only language professional to receive a coveted business award. It proves the fact that linguists can be, and should be, businesspeople as well.”
The “Women to Watch” award is an annual event that honors the city’s most accomplished businesswomen in all areas, including gaming, healthcare, the public sector, etc. Selections are made based on past accomplishments as well as plans for 2010. Judy’s year will be a busy one with a packed speaking calendar in both the U.S. and Europe, the publication of her book, “The Entrepreneurial Linguist: The Business-School Approach to Freelance Translation,” her translation, interpretation, and consulting work, and her goal of becoming certified as a Nevada court interpreter.
