Two Norfolk brothers have invested in the launch of an innovative web-based recruitment solution after recognising its potential for care sector businesses. “We’ve had successful enterprises in the care sector for many years but recruitment of good quality, local staff has always been a huge challenge,” explained Dennis Bacon, who saw the potential in the web-based jobseeker “match making” site, Shop4Staff, which was initially developed by Essex-based internet entrepreneur Phillip Beasley.
“Philip has been tinkering with the idea of Shop4Staff for the last ten years, and its been redeveloped a number of times to reach the product we are launching today, which is a web-based solution that directly connects active jobseekers with employers who have vacancies, via text message or email,” continued younger brother John, who is Head of Operations at a specialist mental health care complex in Wroxham.
Shop4Staff has already been actively promoted at jobs fairs and through job centres across the East of England, resulting in over 1000 active job seekers signing up to the site: “It’s clear to us that there are some really talented, pro-active jobseekers out there and the site is proving really popular with them as its quick and free to register,” explained Dennis, who despite selling a leading care provider business several years ago continues to hold a number of voluntary roles on local authority health and social care boards.
The website features an intuitive search function for employers which enables them to quickly identify suitable candidates in their local area. It also has the ability to automatically request references via email, saving employers time in the recruitment process.
From offices at Blofield, near Norwich, the company is currently growing a team of Business Development Associates across the East of England who will sell annual subscriptions to the website to enable businesses to access the contact details of available candidates. “It’s already proving popular for care businesses who have immediate staff needs, and we’re certain it will prove really valuable in sectors like retail and hospitality which also need rapid access to high quality staff,” continued John Bacon, a chartered accountant by profession.
