Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival Moves to Lima

Imagine a world-class film festival…in downtown Lima. In July of 2012, The Northwest Ohio Film Foundation is bringing a full film festival experience to the area, complete with submissions from all over the world. Now in its sophomore year, the Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival has been so well received that it’s time to embrace a bigger stage: the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center.

Since its 2011 debut at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, the festival has expanded and evolved into a three-day screening for feature-length films and shorts of all genres. While it’s time to move forward to a more technically adept venue with the capacity to reach an even greater audience, Executive Director Len Archibald prides himself on keeping the film festival in the very same region it was created in.

“We believe that this event is a tremendous addition to the community,” says Archibald. “The film festival has garnered tremendous support from both the national and international film communities. We have an exciting reason to be here, and we intend for the festival to bring tourism dollars to the area from patrons globally.”

The film festival receives submissions from filmmakers across the United States, and all over the world, including countries such as France, Germany, The United Kingdom, New Zealand and others. Past participants include award winning, critically acclaimed filmmakers Glenn Berggoetz and Wapakoneta native Theodore James, whose works have screened at the Sundance Film Festival.

The Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival will be held July 6-8, 2012 at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. For more information, please contact Executive Director Len Archibald or visit www.nwoff.org.
