Heavens literally opened when Javed Bashir and Mekaal Hasan Band, the highly acclaimed musicians waltzed their way into the hearts of the packed FICCI auditorium on 11th January 2012, for a concert organized by Routes 2 Roots and ICCR (Indian council for cultural relations). The audiences swooned along as the musicians weaved a velvety web of melodies at Connaught Place in New Delhi. It was a double dose for the people witnessing the two gurus of music sharing the same stage together and celebrating the best of classical, rock & jazz music collectively. The Routes 2 Roots endeavored notes of peace and harmony to spread their idea of love for the two Nations.

Mekaal Hasan's compositions and feel for the guitar constantly earned critical praise and recognition. The air was packed with love and togetherness with the people enjoying heart plundering performances. On the stage, the duo were armed by notes and chords and left no point to let their audiences adore them.

About Artists

Javed Bahsir is one of Pakistan’s most recognized & acclaimed classical singer hailing from a family of renowned qawaals. He has been with the Mekaal Hasan band since 2002. Javed Bashir has performed in India, U.K and U.S.A. to name a few countries several times to packed audiences.

Mekaal Hasan formed his band in 1999. Initially the band played all instrumental music and morphed into an Eastern Classical based outfit with rock and jazz arrangements and featuring vocals and traditional instruments. The band has also released two albums, ‘Sampooran’ in 2004 and 'Saptak' in 2010.
