Seattle -- Free-Press-Release.com-- May 20, 2011 -- Novelist, Susan Wingate has received yet another award for her writing. Wingate received three separate book competition awards in 2010 for novel her Bobby's Diner Series but, this one, winning an award for DROWNING felt even more special to Wingate.
"I really didn't think DROWNING had a chance. I had received already received a number of rejections from publishers, that I just figured this book might never see print!"
Wingate explained how she approached "just one more publisher" and that was the publisher who had faith in the story.
"I'd heard the tale time and again. That a writer was ready to pack it in on their story but that I sent out my manuscript to one more. Just one more. That's what happened with me, with Roberts Press. And, they've been wonderful and supportive."
After submitting the Advanced Reading Copy into the 2011 International Book Awards, Wingate forgot about it and went on to write two more novels. When they announced the winners, she said she actually did the chicken dance, clucking and all!
DROWNING is available now and Wingate is taking her novel as well as her September 2011 release, SACRIFICE AT SEA (no. 3 in the Bobby's Diner Series) to the BookExpo America in New York City this May 23rd.
At the BookExpo, Wingate will be signing both books at Table 8, Tuesday at 1:00 p.m . She's also being interviewed by Brian Felsen, the president of BookBaby.com. You will be able to find Wingate at her publisher's booth #4126.
When we asked Wingate what she had in store for the next coming months, she responded, "Oh gosh! A whole list of things! More workshops at the Richard Hugo House in Seattle, the PNWA Writing Conference in Bellevue, the WOTS conference in Edmonds and I'm gearing up for a whole ongoing workshop series that will be offered through the PNWA Writers Cottage in Issaquah. Joining the teaching staff for these workshops will be authors Anthony Flacco and Sheila Bender and agent Jill Marr. And, that's just to start."
