Nuno's to Raffle off Signed Rob Thomas Fender Guitar to Benefit Doc and Gayle Young Food Drive

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 3, 2009 -- AUSTIN, TX–Wednesday, November 4th, Nuno’s on Sixth will open its doors at 6 pm to help raise money to feed children and families in Central Texas. The event supports the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive, a community service project of the Austin Apartment Association. Since 1986, this Austin Apartment Association-sponsored event has fed thousands of Austin families at the holidays.

As part of the fund raiser, the $5 cover charge at Nuno’s will be donated to the food drive. Music instruments and other music paraphernalia will be raffled off, with proceeds also benefitting the food drive. Raffle tickets are $5 and special items in the raffle include a Fender guitar signed by Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, and a signed Pinetop Perkins guitar, one of the last surviving members of Muddy Waters’ band.

Money raised through the food drive is used to supply food packs to families in need. Each food pack includes a turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans and other traditional Thanksgiving fare, as well as staples. Last year, the food drive fed 1,100 families, including City of Austin Housing Authority residents, children and families receiving services from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and SafePlace.
