Adage Games, LLC launched Obama Poker (www.obama-poker.com) early this year to teach all American’s about our current, wasteful economic policy. Obama Poker is quickly becoming one of America's most popular card games, with rules easy enough for any taxpayer, but disturbing enough for all people regardless of political affiliation. You’ll discover the downward path our great nation might follow if we do nothing to change our ways.

In each round of Obama Poker players can decide to go on “welfare” and get a portion of the investments awarded to the winner, potentially minimizing the investment of the other players that continue to play the cards they were dealt. Whether you like it or not, the “bleeding hearts” in Obama Poker are wild and force you to play the game. Every “fiscal cycle” new cards are added to the deck: “Unemployment”, “Debt” and “Healthcare” will not necessarily help us in the overall game, but it does help increase your likelihood to go on “welfare”. The table also votes on who they perceive to be the richest player and decide to tax them extra and penalize their successes. Finally, the “lame duck” enters the game which ends up just hurting you and costing you even more. In Obama Poker, we don’t expect you to better the hand you were dealt…it wasn’t your fault.

Play the game to your advantage, quit and collect “welfare”. Don’t even try to better your lot, it’s not worth it. Otherwise, if you must play your hand, great; we need people to work to help those seeking “government” handouts. The game does end with a winner, but are they really the winner? The game turns economic game theory on its head. The game is a microcosm of today’s America reflecting the frustration many of us share, but many are afraid to discuss.

Once played you will realize it is a great economics teaching tool for all citizens who are saddled with our uncontrollable national, state and local spending. It will foster passionate discussions every time you play. You will find ways on beating the system and how not playing may benefit you more than staying in the game.
