Orange County -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Dec 12, 2011 -- On Dec 4, 2011, the OCVA Lions volunteers came to the Orange County Rescue Mission Homeless shelter in Tustin, CA to serve the residents of Rescue Mission homeless shelter. After 3 hours of preparation for the holiday dinner (prepping the meals, cooking, cleaning, and decorating), meals were served by our volunteers in a festive atmosphere at the newly and beautifully decorated dining room. (All decorations were donated by Lion Serena Nguyen from DTN Tech Marketing Solutions ).
Lions Huy Hung and Mai Vu led the Lions volunteers in performing a variety of Christmas carols to entertain the audience while the shelter residents enjoyed their meals. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus (Lions Van Vu & Huong To) made their appearance to distribute new toys, donated by Lion Chuck Le of 7 Day Dental, to all of the children at Rescue Mission - who lined up with great anticipation for their gifts. The adults, however, were not forgotten, gift cards from Wal-Mart, Target, and super markets etc. donated by several OCVA Lions members themselves, were also given away to the adult residents of the shelter.
"There’s no more meaningful gift than the gift of serving, giving, and sharing our blessings to the less fortunate during the holiday season. By giving joy, we can’t help to also receive the joy ourselves. OCVA Lions had tons of fun while serving!", said OCVA Lions Treasurer Vanessa Bich Nhu.
