FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 9, 2011 -- Losing your house or your property in a fire, a hurricane, or a tornado is bad. But losing your house or your property and not having insurance is worse. Somewhere between bad and worse is losing property but not having a way to prove to the insurance adjuster what you lost.

The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) advises holders of property insurance to make an inventory of their houses. This allows the policyholder to have a complete record of what he (or she) has in the house should he have a need to prove an insurance claim in the future. The inventory does not need to be professional, just complete or as near complete as possible. The best tool to have during the inventory, says ICT, is a video camera. While recording the contents of the living room, for instance, the policyholder can name and describe each one. In this way, he has an accurate easy-to-prove accounting of his possessions for the insurance adjuster. ICT says to keep the recording somewhere safe, but not inside the house of course.

In areas often visited by natural calamities, such as Texas, the insurance adjuster is a familiar figure. In other areas, not so. Either way, he or she is the right man for the job.

Meanwhile, a bad food-contamination outbreak involving the pathogen Listeria has popped up in at least 19 states, has sickened 84, and has already taken 15 lives. The deepening, widening Listeria crisis in states such as Colorado and Kansas has authorities, including the CDC, very worried. It is one of the fastest and deadliest food-contamination outbreaks in the United States in recent years.

Listeria, like the more common E. coli and Salmonella, is a pathogen that causes serious illness in people and can, for those with a weakened immune system, rapidly lead to death. Old folks, pregnant women, and those with HIV/AIDS are particularly vulnerable. Symptoms include fever, severe headaches, muscle aches, and diarrhea. Listeria can be found in the soil, in animal feces, and in produce whose consumable parts are in contact with the soil. The current outbreak appears to have started from contaminated cantaloupes from a Colorado farm.

Like natural disasters, outbreaks are highly unpredictable. They can strike anywhere, anytime. This uncertainty is why the insurance industry is vital to the wellbeing of any community and its citizens. For people looking to become insurance agents or to renew their insurance licences, providers of insurance licensing classes like Learninsurance.com have various insurance licensing classes online, including Insurance Claims Adjuster Training and the All Lines Insurance Claims Adjuster License Training.
